Met Gala Red carpet 2025: Returning to the Met Gala with yet another unforgettable appearance, Isha Ambani reaffirmed her status as a global fashion force. For this year’s theme, “Tailored for You,” the business heiress and mother of twins opted for a bespoke Anamika Khanna creation that married the sharp precision of Western tailoring with the rich heritage of Indian craftsmanship—setting a new benchmark in couture storytelling.
The three-piece ensemble—styled by longtime collaborator Anaita Shroff Adajania—was an artistic feat in both concept and construction. Featuring a pearl-and-gold-thread embroidered corset that subtly formed the symbol of infinity, black high-waisted tailored trousers, and a structured white floor-grazing cape, the look was a study in contrasts. Power met poetry in the silhouette, where crisp cuts played off intricate embellishments. Khanna’s atelier reportedly devoted over 20,000 hours to bring the look to life, incorporating a handwoven Benarasi train and fine Zardozi embroidery alongside delicate bow motifs—each detail echoing the timeless traditions of Indian textile artistry.

Khanna described the ensemble as a dialogue with history. “Every element—down to the smallest stitch—carries the imprint of tradition and the pride of cultural continuity,” she told Vogue India, revealing that the look also drew inspiration from the refined aesthetics of Black dandy fashion.
But the fashion didn’t stop at the fabric. Isha’s jewelry choices turned heads and sparked widespread speculation. At the center of the conversation was a vintage Cartier necklace from her personal collection—believed to have once belonged to the Maharaja of Nawanagar and previously featured in the film Ocean’s 8. Comprising 89 stones and totaling over 480 carats, including a show-stopping 80.73-carat cushion-cut diamond, the heirloom piece added an air of cinematic opulence. She paired it with Tiffany & Co. bird rings, a diamond-encrusted hip ornament, pearl-studded avian hairpins, and a cape accented with diamond buttons—each accessory a quiet assertion of her lineage and legacy.
Her beauty look remained as considered as the couture: rose-brown lips, a soft smoky eye, and sculpted contouring framed her face with understated grace. Her hair, parted sharply and tied into a braid, was secured with a peacock-shaped clip—a subtle but evocative nod to Indian regality.
This isn’t Isha’s first fashion moment on the Met steps. Last year, she stunned in a Rahul Mishra couture sari-gown titled “River of Life,” which embodied the cyclical beauty of nature and evolution. That ensemble took over 10,000 hours to complete and featured embroidered motifs from Mishra’s decade-long design archive—an homage to patience, craftsmanship, and time.
This year, Isha’s look deepened her narrative. In seamlessly blending traditional Indian motifs with modern tailoring, she did more than wear a couture creation—she wore history, memory, and identity. At an event known for theatricality, Isha Ambani’s appearance stood out for its elegance, intellect, and the deliberate grace with which it paid tribute to both past and present.
