Every Tuesday during this period is celebrated as Bada Mangal, a day devoted to the worship of Lord Hanuman, the mighty son of Lord Vayu (the wind god). This month is considered especially auspicious for seeking Hanuman Ji’s blessings and relief from worldly troubles.
According to the Hindu calendar, the month of Jyeshtha begins on May 13 this year. Devotees across India, particularly in North India, observe special rituals and offer prayers on each Tuesday of the month. It is customary to distribute prasad, organise bhandaras (community feasts), and conduct Hanuman Chalisa recitations in temples and homes alike. Worshippers believe that offering prayers to Hanuman Ji during Jyeshtha not only removes obstacles but also fulfils heartfelt wishes.

Astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram from Ayodhya states that this year, Jyeshtha starts on a Tuesday, making it especially significant. The five Tuesdays fall on May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, and June 10. On each of these days, devotees seek to please Bajrangbali, believing that their sincere prayers will bring strength, protection, and liberation from life’s challenges.
In Uttar Pradesh and other northern states, Bada Mangal is observed with grand fervour. Many devotees observe fasts, visit Hanuman temples, and participate in religious gatherings. According to scriptures, it is also believed that Lord Ram met Hanuman Ji for the first time during the month of Jyeshtha, adding further spiritual depth to the observance.
